The Long Story ... How it All Started!

Over the years, I’ve tried various crafts—crocheting, knitting, sewing, jewelry making, pottery—and some I didn’t have the patience or skills for, and others, I just didn’t have the right mindset.

For each of these attempts, I bought tools, raw materials, and more. But when I looked at the final outcome, OMG!!! What the hell was I thinking, Hehehehe. I’d end up with piles of unused supplies, thinking, “What a waste.” and to top it off, JPS was quick to disconnect me from the grid because of my failed ventures.

But because I truly believe everyone should have a hobby, I stuck with it until I found something I loved: jewelry making. I discovered polymer clay while reading a craft book at the library. After watching a few YouTube tutorials, I realized it was the perfect craft for me. I could create anything I wanted in any color, size, or shape. A friend who went to the USA even brought back some clay and jewelry-making tools. I was in heaven.

Years went by, filled with sourcing supplies from China, Amazon, and local stores, each with its own challenges. Bulk selling, large quantities, no returns (or returns that were too costly), wrong sizes, mismatched findings... the list goes on. In the end, the sheer number of options for findings, components, cords, and closures became overwhelming.

Then I discovered a local store, Teddy’s Downtown, which sold supplies in smaller quantities. I could simply walk in and buy exactly what I needed. It’s a small, packed store with a lot of stuff for crafters. It might be a bit tricky to find what you need, but you can always ask for help.

I really wish they had an online presence, which is why I’m doing this.

Now, I want to make your creative journey easier. I can’t help with the bad or ridiculous designs you may come up with, but by offering smaller supplies, tools, rentals, and even returns—all right here in Jamaica—I hope to make your crafting experience smoother and more enjoyable.
